Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan announced Corona Relief Tiger and Prime Minster Fund

Pakistan Prime Minster Imran Khan has announced on Friday, the formation of Corona Relief Tigers, while he was briefing the media on COVID-19 response. He told that youth and volunteers of the country can participate in relief efforts by registering themselves to Corona Relief Tigers by using Pakistan Citizen’s Portal, starting from March 31, 2020. He informed that unlike during the 2005 earthquake and 2010 floods, this time the process of relief efforts would be all systematic by using advanced technology.

PM has also announced establishing of Prime Minster Fund in coming days to support the devastating families across the country. An other account will be created on State Bank of Pakistan for overseas Pakistanis to contribute remittances to it so that reserves could be boosted and pressure on the rupee could decrease.

Minister for National Food Security Khusro Bakhtiar said during the briefing on COVID-19 that country has enough food supplies. He said that the demand and supply gap would be cover in coming days, which was caused by stockpiling of food especially of wheat amid outbreak of the virus.

Dr Zafar Iqbal Mirza during the briefing said that unlike the most of other countries, where the old age population is more affected, in Pakistan the most affected people from the virus are within the age group of 21 to 50. He said we are investigating the causes for this different scenario , which could be the change of environment or the change of virus itself.
