International football governing body FIFA and World Health Organization (WHO) have launched a campaign, “Pass the message to kick out coronavirus” on Monday, March 23.
The president FIFA expressed his deep condolence to all the families across the world facing the tragedy of cronoavirus. He also appreciated the contribution of everyone to combat pandemic, especially those working in health departments. He said football means so much for the billions of the people around the world and this encouraged him to show solidarity in this difficult time. He said when he came to know about the pandemic he was concerned that how football could be a help and he wanted to tell the world that football wants to help. He said the virus has shown us two important things that how vulnerable we are and how global the world has became. Global problems required global solutions and we need to bring all world together and remember that we are all one kind, a human kind, and we have to show extraordinary global acts of solidarity because health comes first, he added.
Alisson Becker, WHO Goodwill ambassador for health promotion, Liverpool FC and Brazil goalkeeper also expressed his his feelings and said that:
“It’s a great opportunity for me to be a part of this movement that is starting today. Pass the message to kick out the coronavirus. We football players used to act together and worked and trained together, and now in this tough time everyone’s life has changed because of staying home, I am not able to be together with my colleagues, and with my team mates. I was made to play football and now because this tough time we are not able to bring happiness to people through football, but we also understand that it’s necessary to stay home and to think about solidarity, I believe this moment we need
solidarity with passion. I’m glad to be a participant of this movement because the people need the right information, and it’s necessary to have the right information in this time, so I’d like to say that people follow the information from local authorities and try to follow the information from WHO, we can trust on them and as it’s said that health comes first. It’s time for team work, like in football, Everybody do their job that includes to be safe, to stay at home, to follow the advice of experts for example wash hands properly and keeping social distance but not to forget to work as a team, I’d like to show my support and we need to trust in ourselves and in human capacity to go through this adversity, it’s not the first time that we overcome from something bad in our lives but now we need participation from everybody.”
