When Allah created Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) He asked a Jinn named Iblees to prostrate Adam but the jinn became arrogant and didn’t obey his creator hence became the first kafir (disbeliever), known to us. Since then Iblees became shaiytan (Satan – meaning became far from truth and mercy of Allah) and an open enemy of Allah and humankind. He asked Allah’s permission which was granted to him and promised that he will deceive humankind till the day of judgement. But Allah replied to him that “ إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانٌ إِلَّا مَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْغَاوِينَ ” meaning: “Over My servants you have no authority, except for the sinners who follow you”.
Shaiytan’s first target was of course the first human beings Adam and his wife, and he successfully deceived them and made them too, to disobey their creator. But as soon as Adam and his wife realized that they had disobeyed their Lord they asked forgiveness in the words taught to them by Allah “ رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ ” meaning: “Our Lord, we have done wrong to ourselves. Unless You forgive us, and have mercy on us, we will be among the losers.” and Allah almighty forgave them.
He is working tirelessly since then to deceive humankind without wasting any moment.
Interestingly for the month of Ramadan, the ninth month of Islamic lunar calendar; it’s believed accordingly a hadith of last prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alyhe wassallam) that the major shayateen are chained. It’s a great opportunity for humankind and specifically for Muslims to get benefit of the month. It’s time to refresh faith and feel accountable for the sins committed in life time, in the absence of devils this month is a magnificent gift from Allah to His slaves. This is not the whole story there is an other great part worth understanding. The last ten days of the month! .. these are the days for which it’s said that there is a night hidden in these days when a worshiper’s worship would be counted as approximately for 85 years that means worship in this night is better than worshiping for almost all his life! .. Sobhan’Allah.. Hence Allah says that “ وَرَحْمَتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ ۚ” meaning: “ but My mercy encompasses all things”. (Qur’aan 7|156). Indeed it’s Allah’s mercy on this slaves to grant them this valuable night. Allah says “وَلِبَاسُ التَّقْوَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ ” meaning: “But the clothing of piety—that is best.” .. this is exactly the purpose of the month of Ramadan for the believers to attain “Taqwa“.
This hidden night called “ Laylatul Qadr ” .. graceful night. It’s also said that this night is hidden in odd number nights of the last ten days of the month i.e 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, and some narrations says that it’s 27th of the Ramadan.
No sane Muslim should waste these ten days to seek the glorious night of blessings. May Allah help every Muslim to attain taqwa in this blessed month and the complete blessings of the night.
